This blog is part of my recovery, and I would like it to remain a safe place for me to share parts of myself and my life that people close to me may or may not know. As a result, while I'm not going crazy with privacy settings, I do ask that if you find this on your own and suspect you may know me, please respect my privacy by checking with us before reading any further. This obviously doesn't apply if one of us has given you the link!

Late Sanguine Saturday Again

It's been an interesting couple of weeks. I've been very busy! I'm also having trouble writing lately, anything I start sits for hours as I struggle to find the words I want to use.

Success Stories:
No drinking.
No burning.
I've been working really hard at pushing some of my boundaries.

Gratitudes/Happy Things:
Good friends
Calling my nieces on the phone. The 10 year old asked me where I was ("I'm in the Tower of London, which is in London") and then asked me if I'd been to the UK yet. The 7 year old asked me if my bed was in the Tower of London!

Challenge and cheer-leading statements:
All things pass eventually (if we let them).
Sometimes things need to be faced down, and sometimes some things need to be faced down a dozen times.
It's okay to make mistakes and get things wrong sometimes.

Apologies for the lack, but no outward links again this week. I think I probably will post less links while I'm away, but feel free as always to link in a comment to my SS posts if you do your own version! I still want to read and I'm sure others do, too!

Take care of yourselves until next time, and may we all find our own small fences along the way.

  1. hi,
i apoligize, first off, for not "checking in" with you, as you requested... since i'm not quite sure how to accomplish that! :/
i would like very much to share your info and your blog with a young lady who i have only recently met here on fb ~ she, too has bpd, as well as other (ahem) 'disabilities'... but oh my GOODNESS!! is she EVER an intelligent, empathetic, caring WONDERFUL young woman!! :) and she's been told FAR too often of her "limitations"...
i SO believe that she'd benefit greatly by your outlook and wisdom, Chrysalis. i believe you could be a mentor, in a way to her that i cannot.
she has no family; in fact she has NO one...no one but me, and i am several states away, here in the U.S. , and quite helpless, currently, to do very much, other than speak with her on the telephone and communicate with her via facebook.
i have the heart of a MOM, but not the knowledge that you do about BPD. my ex-husband of 20 yrs. was bi-polar AND BPD, but in such DEEP denial that ... well, that's another story entirely. he worked 12-hour rotating days/nights, and ... we spent very little time together. so. ANYway... If you're willing to answer me, hon... i'd sure appreciate it, for this young lady's sake!
please? :) My name is dawni, i'm 54 yrs old, and you can contact me on fb as Dawn Wilson.
Thanks SO much, in advance, ... at least for taking the time to read this! :)

  2. Hi Dawn,

First of all, I'm so sorry for not seeing this sooner. I've not been as diligent about checking my blog recently (or, unfortunately, writing in it!) as I normally would be.

If you mean the bit in the blurb about checking with me, that's only for people who know me or suspect they know me. I'm pretty sure I don't know you (yet!), so no worries on that score. :) You're also welcome to share the link to my blog with anyone at all.

I have to admit, I'm a little scared of the idea of me being a mentor -- I'm nowhere near "better" or "well" and everything I say/think/feel should probably be taken with a grain of salt (!), but if you think your friend would get something out of my writings, I'd love to have her read along. :)

The situation with your ex-husband sounds very difficult, it must have been very draining for you to be in that relationship. Denial can be a huge barrier to building a healthier life.

I'd be happy to contact you over Facebook but there are a lot of people named "Dawn Wilson" who came up on my search. Do you know your profile link? Alternatively, if you want to share your email address with me, I could send you an email with my Facebook account's details.
